Parkinson’s Disease

After receiving a diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease, it is never too early- or too late- to start physical treatment of the disease. Studies have shown that the implementation of a rigorous Physical Therapy program can drastically reduce the onset of Parkinson’s symptoms, as well as reduce the severity of symptoms that are already occurring.

If you have noticed that you or a loved one’s movements are becoming slower or “smaller” -in particular, after receiving diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease- then our specially designed Therapy treatment should be something to consider for improving your range of motion.

Northern Physical Therapy’s own Claire Sweeney, DPT, is certified by LSVT GLobal to implement the BIG Treatment to Parkinson’s Patients.┬áTreatment is administered in 16 sessions over a single month (four individual 60 minute sessions per week). This protocol was developed specifically to address the unique movement impairments for people with Parkinson’s Disease. The protocol is both intensive and complex, with many repetitions of core movements that are used in daily living. This type of practice is necessary to optimize learning and carryover of your better movement into everyday life!
